McClure Engineering was selected to prepare Phase I design development report documents which included survey, permits, public involvement, and coordination with State and Federal Agencies. Following the approval of the Project Development Report, McClure assembled a team to help with the lighting, geotechnical, landscape architecture, and structural review.
Structural review was required by IDOT Bureau of Bridges and Structures because the structural elements were declared "complex" by the bridge office requiring our work to be peer reviewed. We prepared Phase II design plans and specifications as a design team with McClure as the lead consultant.
Following the project award to Illinois Constructors, McClure managed the same team during construction. McClure acted as the Resident Engineer for the City of Rockford and coordinated construction activities while both museums remained open to the public. For it's outstanding performance, Illinois Constructors recently received the "Contractor of the Year for 2012" award from IDOT, District 2, in the "Special Projects" category.
